I don’t want to dress like Amazon.

There. I said it.

I shop Amazon just like everybody else, but I don’t want to order a bunch of random pieces simply because they’re trending, have 40,000 reviews, or somebody half my age looked adorable wearing them on Instagram.

At 68, I know what I like.

I’m a little boho. A little hippie. Sometimes California casual. I like flowy things, interesting layers, great jewelry, comfortable shoes and clothes that don’t require me to suck anything in.

And if there’s a little turquoise involved?

Even better.

So when I shop Amazon for clothes now, the question isn’t:

“Is this appropriate for a woman my age?”

It’s:

“Does this look like ME?”

That’s a much better way to shop.

Here are the Amazon fashion finds for women over 60 that actually earn a place in my closet. Boho, comfortable, and very much me.

1. The Flowy Top That Doesn’t Look Like a Tent

There’s a fine line between flowy and where did Gigi go?

I want movement. I want room. I want fabric that isn’t clinging to every little thing.

But I still want some shape.

Boho blouses, embroidered tops, relaxed tunics and peasant-style shirts are some of the first things I look for.

Give me one with jeans, a pair of earrings and some cute shoes and I’m pretty much dressed.

🛍️ Gigi’s Picks: LauraKlein Embroidered Bohemian Blouse, 3/4 Sleeve (4.2 stars) • YZXDORWJ Women’s Embroidered Mexican Peasant Blouse Mexico Summer Shirt Short Sleeve (4.4 stars)

2. Wide-Leg Pants I Can Actually Live In

I spent enough years wearing uncomfortable clothes because they supposedly made me look better.

I’m over it.

Give me wide-leg pants with movement and a comfortable waist.

The trick for me is balancing them with a top that doesn’t overwhelm the whole outfit. A simple tank, tucked or half-tucked blouse, or slightly shorter layer usually does the job.

Comfortable doesn’t have to mean sloppy.

🛍️ Gigi’s Picks: PRETTYGARDEN Womens Pants Elastic Waist Striped & Floral Lightweight Palazzo Pant (4.2 stars) • Bestbee Wide-Leg Palazzo Pants (4.4 stars)

3. The Throw-It-On Dress

Every closet needs at least one dress that doesn’t require a committee meeting.

Put it on.

Add jewelry.

Grab a bag.

Done.

I especially love relaxed midi and maxi dresses because you can completely change them with accessories.

Flat sandals make them casual.

Boots and a jacket take them into fall.

A great necklace makes the whole thing look intentional.

That’s my kind of clothing.

🛍️ Gigi’s Picks: Simplee Boho Floral Long-Sleeve Maxi Dress (4.3 stars) • ANRABESS Long-Sleeve Fall Maxi Dress with Pockets (4.4 stars)

4. A Kimono or Lightweight Layer

You knew this one was coming.

I love a layer.

Kimonos, lightweight cardigans and flowy open-front pieces are one of the easiest ways I’ve found to take a very basic outfit and make it look like me.

Jeans and a tank?

Fine.

Jeans, a tank and a fabulous printed kimono?

Now we’re talking.

🛍️ Gigi’s Picks: CHICGAL Floral Kimono Cardigan (4.3 stars) • Burnout Velvet Kimono Cardigan with Tassels (4.3 stars)

5. Jewelry That Does Some of the Work

Sometimes the outfit isn’t the interesting part.

The accessories are.

I can wear a simple black top and jeans and completely change the look with a long necklace, chunky bracelet or big earrings.

And yes, I like jewelry you can actually SEE.

At this point in my life, I’m not trying to disappear.

🛍️ Gigi’s Picks: Montana West Turquoise Necklace & Earring Set (4.4 stars) • Funtopia Boho Dangle Earrings, 16 Pairs (4.5 stars)

6. Shoes That Understand I’m 68

My shoes and I have reached an agreement.

They can be cute.

But they also need to behave themselves.

I’m looking for cushioned sneakers, comfortable boots, supportive sandals and shoes I can actually walk around in.

I’ve already done the suffering-for-fashion years.

We’re not going back.

🛍️ Gigi’s Picks: Skechers Women’s Go Walk Joy Sneaker (4.5 stars) • CUSHIONAIRE Luna Cork Footbed Sandals (4.5 stars — and yes, they’re named after my girl 🐾)

7. The Bag That Goes With Everything

I love a good crossbody.

Hands free. Easy to carry. Big enough for what I actually need without becoming a portable storage unit.

Give me leather-look, woven texture, fringe or something slightly unusual and I’m interested.

🛍️ Gigi’s Picks: Gladdon Boho Fringe Bucket Crossbody Bag (4.3 stars) • Canvas Hobo Crossbody Shoulder Bag (4.5 stars)

My Amazon Rule at 68

Here’s what has changed most about the way I shop.

I’m not trying to build somebody else’s wardrobe anymore.

I’m building mine.

If everybody on the internet suddenly decides something is “out,” but I still love it?

I’m wearing it.

If the fashion rules say women over 60 shouldn’t wear something?

I’m probably going to at least try it on. 😂

Because style gets a whole lot more fun when you stop asking for permission.

At 68, I know myself better than I did at 38.

My closet ought to show it.

And if you’re still figuring out what your style looks like now, give yourself some grace.

Try things.

Change your mind.

Send things back.

Wear the big earrings.

Life is too short to have a closet full of clothes that don’t feel like you.

Don’t let your age determine the size of your dreams—or the size of your personality.
