Happy 250th Birthday, America

Today’s a big one — two hundred and fifty years for this country. And laying here on the Fourth of July, I got to thinking about my grandmother becoming a citizen, my dad working on the Apollo spacecraft, and why those fireworks tonight feel like something more than birthday candles for America.
I wrote it all out over on my Substack — my family’s story, my dad’s fifteenth-of-seventeen-kids journey to the Air Force and the aerospace industry, and what it means to me to be a second generation Mexican American woman able to speak my mind in this country.
Happy Fourth, everyone.
