Working On A Travel Vision Board

BigDog is 77. I’m 67. And as long as I can remember I have always wanted to visit all 50 states. When I have said this, it seems as a surprise to people. There seems to be an unspoken expectation that once you pass a certain age, your world gets smaller. Your travel gets safer. Your curiosity gets quieter.

I am glad that when I met BigDog he had the same curiosity of whats out there? And even though he has been to almost all 50 states, he has been more then willing to help me with this dream.

I’m not sure why I also thought I wanted to travel by way of a travel trailer. May be because I love the road, the wind hitting your face, the sun kissing your cheeks. An there is amount of freedom. Knowing when you done, you just hit the road again.

This was our beloved Jet’s last road trip with us.

We just hitch up our Luna trailer and knowing we don’t have to rush. No security lines. No gate changes. No dragging suitcases through terminals.

Just us. The road. And the option to pull over if something looks interesting. At this stage of life, freedom looks different. It looks like practicality.

Why We Chose a Luna Trailer Our Luna trailer isn’t luxury. It’s smart. It’s manageable for two people in their late 60s and 70s. It’s affordable compared to constant hotels.
It gives us our own bed, our own coffee, our own rhythm.

We dry camp when we want quiet skies. We book RV parks when we want hookups and long showers. The beauty of this season? We choose comfort without apology.

Here is a short list of some items we have found that work for traveling in our Luna. And of course a spot for Luna in the truck:

Leveling blocks
Portable camp chairs
Compact coffee maker
Outdoor rug
Surge protector
Dog travel essentials
National park guide books

Twenty states down and we are not done yet. We’ve crossed 20 states so far. There are still blank spaces on the map: Montana, Wyoming, Kansas, Alabama, Louisiana, Kentucky and Virginia. Just to name a few.

Why this travel board matters? It’s part of vision that I want to see. And no matter what, age does not have to stop you.

If BigDog at 77 can still hook up a trailer and head out, what’s stopping the rest of us? We don’t need extreme adventures. We want adventures, road trips, making memories, because we are still curious.

Which can include more of beaches, national parks, roadside oddities, coffee outside the trailer and Luna stretched out in a camp chair.

This is what “still curious” looks like.

Couples Over 60 & 70 if you’re reading this and thinking, “Maybe we’re too old for that…Let me gently say you’re not. You may move slower. You may plan smarter.
You may prioritize comfort more. But the desire to explore? That’s human. Still curious is not about age. It’s about willingness. And we are not done yet.
