The Christmas Gifts I’d Actually Want at 68 (And the Ones You Can Keep)
Because getting older doesn’t mean my Christmas list has to get boring. And neither do Christmas gifts for women over 60.

Every Christmas, somebody publishes another list of Christmas gifts for women over 60, and I swear they all look like they were written by someone who thinks we stopped having personalities the minute we qualified for a senior discount.
Slippers. Heating pads. Pill organizers. Crossword puzzles.
Now, don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing wrong with any of those things. I enjoy being comfortable as much as the next woman.
But I’m 68, not 108.
I still love clothes, jewelry, makeup, decorating my house, playing with technology, and finding something fabulous that I didn’t even know I needed.
And I certainly haven’t reached an age where I want every gift to remind me that I’m getting older.
So this year, I’m putting together a Christmas gift guide that’s a little different.
These are the kinds of gifts I’d actually be excited to unwrap. Some are practical. Some are pretty. Some are completely unnecessary.
And that’s the point.
Not every Christmas gift needs to solve a problem.
Sometimes it just needs to make a woman smile.
Jewelry That Makes a Statement
If you’ve spent any time around Gigi Unfiltered, you already know I’m not exactly a minimalist when it comes to jewelry.
Give me turquoise. Give me silver. Give me something a little funky, artistic, or bohemian.
I want jewelry that makes an outfit interesting.
I’m not looking for something that disappears against my blouse. I want a piece that makes somebody say, “Where did you get that?”
And I don’t believe there’s an expiration date on statement jewelry.
What I’d love to unwrap:
Turquoise Statement Necklace
Give me a beautiful turquoise necklace that can turn a simple white blouse and jeans into an entire outfit. I love pieces that have a little personality and aren’t afraid to stand out.

Artistic Silver Earrings
I love silver earrings that look like somebody put a little creativity into designing them. Hammered textures, interesting shapes, and a little western-boho influence are right up my alley.

And if you’re wondering whether statement jewelry is appropriate for a woman over 60, my answer is simple.
Who cares?
Clothes That Look Like Me, Not My Age
Please don’t buy me something because you think it’s appropriate for a 68-year-old woman.
Buy me something because you know my style.
There’s a difference.
My closet is full of denim, boho tops, interesting layers, and pieces that make me feel like myself.
I love a great kimono. A fabulous jacket. A top with beautiful details. And I certainly wouldn’t complain about another pair of boots.
What I don’t want is somebody deciding that my age means I should start dressing like I’ve given up.
What I’d love to unwrap:
A Colorful Boho Kimono
A beautiful kimono is one of those pieces I can wear over a simple tank top with jeans and instantly feel put together. I love interesting prints, flowing fabrics, and colors that make an outfit pop.

Western-Inspired Ankle Boots
I have a soft spot for boots. Give me a pair with some western personality, embroidery, or an interesting detail, and I’m happy.

And one little suggestion: If you’re buying clothes for a woman, pay attention to what she actually wears. Not what you think she should wear.
Beauty Gifts Because I’m Still Having Fun With Makeup
Here’s something I didn’t expect to be doing at 68.
Letting artificial intelligence help me choose makeup!
Between experimenting with ChatGPT and Claude, trying different colors, and learning new techniques, makeup has become another little adventure.
And I’m having fun.
That’s the important part.
I don’t want beauty products that promise to erase every sign I’ve lived 68 years.
I’ve earned those years.
But I absolutely want products that help me play with color, try something new, and feel fabulous.
What I’d love to unwrap:
Real Techniques Everyday Essentials Makeup Brush Set
Good makeup brushes make experimenting with different products and techniques a lot more enjoyable. This is the kind of practical beauty gift I would actually use.

A Conair LED Lighted Makeup Mirror
Good lighting makes a difference when you’re trying a new makeup look, especially when you’re also recording videos.
And no, I don’t need a mirror that magnifies every wrinkle until I can see what I looked like in a previous lifetime.
Just give me good lighting.

Something for My Cozy Home
I love making our home feel warm, welcoming, and lived in.
Not like a furniture showroom where nobody’s allowed to sit down.
Give me beautiful textures, interesting lamps, cozy throws, and little decorative pieces that tell a story.
I especially love gifts that make the patio or living room feel like somewhere you want to settle in with a cup of coffee and stay awhile.
What I’d love to unwrap:
A Bedsure Sherpa Fleece Throw Blanket
A beautiful, soft throw is something I can actually use while making the living room feel a little cozier. I love a good blanket that looks just as pretty draped over a chair as it feels wrapped around me.

A Vintage-Style Rechargeable Table Lamp
I love warm lighting. A cordless lamp can be wonderful for creating a cozy atmosphere on a patio table, side table, or wherever you want a little glow without dealing with cords.

And no, a vacuum cleaner doesn’t count as a Christmas present unless I specifically asked for it.
Planner Girl Gifts
Now we’re talking.
There’s something about opening a brand-new planner that makes me feel like absolutely anything is possible.
A fresh year. Blank pages. New goals.
And stickers.
Lots of stickers.
My mom, my daughter, and I all enjoy setting up our planners for the new year.
Even BigDog gets a planner.
Sadly, he doesn’t let me decorate his.
His loss.
For me, planning isn’t just about appointments and things I need to get done. It’s part of the excitement of starting another year and imagining what I might do with it.
What I’d love to unwrap:
The Happy Planner for 2027
I’ve used Happy Planner and Agenda 52, and I love the whole process of setting up my planner for the new year.
Choosing the layout, adding the stickers, and getting everything organized is half the fun.
Shop The Happy Planner 2027 on Amazon →
Happy Planner Sticker Books
You can never have too many planner stickers.
Well, I’m sure somebody thinks you can.
That person probably doesn’t decorate planners.

Something for My Creative Side
When I retired, I certainly didn’t imagine I’d spend so much time learning about websites, YouTube, Pinterest, affiliate marketing, and artificial intelligence.
But here we are.
And I love it.
I’m building something new at 68, and I’m constantly learning.
So a gift that supports my creativity is absolutely welcome.
Maybe it’s something for recording videos. Maybe it’s a gadget that makes my workspace easier to use.
Or maybe it’s something I haven’t discovered yet.
What I’d love to unwrap:
A UBeesize Phone Tripod With Remote
When you’re recording videos, taking outfit photos, or creating content by yourself, having a good phone tripod can make things a whole lot easier.
Shop UBeesize Phone Tripods With Remotes on Amazon →
A Portable Rechargeable Video Light
Lighting can make a big difference when you’re creating videos, whether you’re filming a makeup look, an outfit of the day, or something for YouTube.

Who says Christmas gifts for women over 60 can’t include technology?
Little Luxuries: Christmas Gifts for Women Over 60 I’d Never Buy Myself
Here’s where Christmas gets fun.
Sometimes the best gifts are things you don’t necessarily need and probably wouldn’t buy for yourself.
A beautiful robe. A really nice handbag. A fabulous pair of earrings.
Something that feels like a treat.
I don’t need everything in my life to be practical.
And at 68, I’ve spent enough years being responsible to appreciate something that’s simply enjoyable.
What I’d love to unwrap:
A Beautiful Floral Satin Kimono Robe
Something pretty, comfortable, and just a little indulgent. A robe doesn’t have to be boring just because it’s meant for relaxing at home.
Shop Floral Satin Kimono Robes on Amazon →
An Embroidered Boho Handbag
Give me a handbag with beautiful embroidery, color, or an interesting design.
Something that feels like an accessory, not just a place to carry my wallet and keys.

And Now, the Gifts You Can Keep
Let’s have a little fun.
Because there are some gifts I would happily leave under the tree.
Anything that assumes I’m too old to have fun.
If the entire reason you picked it is because I’m 68, maybe rethink it.
Anything that’s really a household chore disguised as a present.
I’m looking at you, cleaning appliances.
Unless I specifically requested a vacuum cleaner, please don’t wrap one up and expect me to squeal with delight.
Clothes that have absolutely nothing to do with my personality.
I love a comfortable outfit. But comfortable and boring are not the same thing.
And please don’t buy me something just because the tag says “mature women.”
Anti-aging products that come with a message.
If I ask for skincare, wonderful.
But I don’t need a Christmas present suggesting that my face is a problem that needs fixing.
Anything that suggests my best years are behind me.
Because I don’t believe that for one second.
And one more thing.
Please don’t give me something that requires me to learn how to use it, assemble it, clean it, or find somewhere to store it unless it’s something I actually wanted.
That’s not a present.
That’s an assignment.
The Best Christmas Gifts Say, “I Know You”
Here’s what I really think.
The best gifts aren’t necessarily the most expensive ones.
They’re the ones that show somebody has been paying attention.
They know what makes you laugh.
They know what you’re interested in.
They know what you’ve been talking about trying, learning, or doing.
They see the person you are right now, not just the age you happen to be.
And maybe that’s what bothers me about so many gift guides for older women.
They forget that we’re individuals.
Some of us garden. Some of us travel. Some of us love makeup and fashion. Some of us are starting businesses, learning technology, or discovering entirely new interests.
Some of us are doing all of the above.
At 68, I don’t want Christmas gifts that tell me to slow down.
I want gifts that remind me there’s still plenty of life to enjoy.
And if you happen to wrap up a fabulous turquoise necklace?
Well, I’m certainly not going to complain.
What about you?
What’s one Christmas gift you’d genuinely love to receive this year? And what’s one gift people can stop buying you?
I’d love to hear both.
Because I have a feeling some of us have stories.
